Small Town Charm

McCall, Idaho is a small four season resort community
located just two hours north of Boise and is a four-season
destination for anyone who loves the outdoors.

McCall, Idaho is a small four season resort community located just two hours north of Boise: Idaho’s capital city and largest metropolitan area. McCall has been a weekend destination for Boise residents for decades. However, with the arrival of Tamarack Resort, a new four season resort about 20 miles south of McCall, the area has become a popular destination for travelers all over the country.

McCall is known for its many recreational opportunities. Surrounded by mountains, water, and public land, McCall has something to offer everyone throughout the entire year. In the summer, Payette Lake, a pristine natural lake in the heart of town, is a popular place to boat, water-ski, or lay on the beach. For those looking to enjoy our beautiful mountains, you don’t have to go far in any direction to find hiking, mountain biking, and four-wheeling trails, along with some hidden high-mountain lakes. Central Idaho is also fortunate to have two major river systems close by.

The Payette and Salmon Rivers boast some of the best whitewater in the country. From gentle, scenic floats to wild world-class whitewater, these rivers offer a fun adventure for every level of water enthusiast. McCall is home to three golf courses, each with their own special qualities. McCall Golf Course is a 27-hole course tucked in the trees and close to downtown. Jug Mountain Ranch is a new 18-hole course south of town with wide open spaces at the foot of Jughandle Mountain. Whitetail Club is a beautifully manicured private course that would be any golf enthusiast’s dream. If those options aren’t enough, you only have to drive a half hour in either direction two reach two more great courses!

There is also plenty to do in McCall through our winter months. With two ski resorts, Brundage Mountain & Tamarack Resort, less than an hour away, and hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails in all directions, there is never any reason to hibernate here! McCall is known for its light, dry snow – sunny powder days are common and whether you’re skiing or snowmobiling it isn’t difficult to find a place to make fresh tracks.

Two of our area golf courses and Ponderosa State Park have groomed cross-country trails in the winter for those who are looking for a refreshing winter workout. McCall is probably best known for its annual Winter Carnival, a two-week festival in February where ice sculptures line the streets of town. Other Carnival activities include a parade, live music, bon fires near a food court and beer garden, a pancake breakfast, and several competitions including the infamous Beard & Sexy Leg contest. The only way to truly understand why McCall is such a unique and fun destination is to spend some time in our community. Whether you’re thinking of moving here, or looking for a second home, we think you’ll find that McCall is a beautiful friendly town and a land of opportunity for any who love the outdoors. If you aren’t familiar with the area, we would be happy to help you get acquainted!
